JULY ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Greetings Readers (and Beaders!), thanks for stopping by to read another blog from Eureka Crystal Beads. Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to the next jewelry artist we’re featuring for my monthly Artist Spotlight series!

For the month of July we’re featuring Bead Artist Szidonia Petki, who creates her stunning and detailed jewelry and  tutorial patterns all the way from beautiful Italy. She features her patterns for sale in her Etsy shop: SidoniasBeads. Make sure to check out her lovely designs! Please read on to learn a bit more about this talented artist!

Szidonia, entered into the beading world by chance only 6 short years ago towards the end of 2012. At that time, she was searching for something new to learn – something she could do with her hands and, perhaps, earn some extra money. She stumbled upon some YouTube videos and her passion simply took off! Her initial intent was to sell the finished jewelry that she created, however, after being prompted to actually create her own patterns by one of the YouTubers she followed, she found this to be a better focus for her new business venture!

Her favorite materials to work with include lots of stunning faceted Swarovski Crystal beads and stones, various sizes and shapes of Czech glass beads – where she especially shows off multi-hole beads beautifully! – along with small Japanese seed beads for their uniformity. Her designs are very precise, so this uniformity helps very much in the creation of her patterns. She plans to continue to explore newer mediums for her work as well, and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with!

She finds her inspiration specifically from the first 2 designers that she learned from, Kelly Dale and Sabine Lippert, and she states that they hold a very special place in her heart since they have been there from the beginning of her journey.

I asked Szidonia to share anything else she wished about her life and what followed was a lovely story about her mother.

“The curious thing about me beading, is that I had never been into crafting before discovering it. My mum does some wonderful macrame doilies and I remember when I was an adolescent she tried to teach me to crochet the cord that she would use to create the doilies, but I could not do it, I felt like I had two left hands! And it also didn’t seem like a “cool” thing to be making, you know how silly adolescents can be sometimes. 🙂 Needless to say, now I’m sorry I didn’t try harder, but as the saying goes, it’s never too late, so, a couple of days ago, I bought myself a set of crochet hooks and I’m going to try to make a necklace I saw in a video tutorial on Youtube, just like I did with my first beaded jewelry!”

She also wished to share a picture of one of her mother’s doilies, and it seems apparent that Szidonia was meant to be a creative artist with precision in her blood. The detail pictured here is outstanding! Truly a work of art, as are the beaded designs created by Szidonia Petki.

Until next time folk! Make sure to head on over to Eureka Crystal Beads where soon we will be featuring some of Szidonia’s patterns along with fabulous color-ways for you!

Happy Beading!

-Leah
